The EDER company, today a global player in the special field of die-tool processing equipment, drawing die-tools and technical assistance, was founded by Siegfried EDER Sr. († 1975) in 1947, then a key technical manager of a large wire-/cable manufacturing plant in Vienna.

It started first with the production of drawing die-tools made from tungsten carbide, later on also from natural diamond, then entering the field of designing and making die processing equipment too, at first mainly for its own use, later on also being supplied to EDER-customers for die-tool repairing. The then prevailing production scope was about 80% die-tools, 15% machines and 5% technical assistance.

After the founder's two sons, Siegfried Franz Eder Jr. († 1992) and Kurt G. Eder joined the EDER company, soon a considerable expansion in both the production scope and exports abroad took place.

When Dr. Kurt G. EDER managed to produce the first Compax/PCD drawing die in the late 60^th, due to specifically developed new technologies and equipment, this led to a uniquely leading technological level of EDER-products, which brought the EDER company into a pioneering position, far ahead of the competition and matters considerably until today.

EDER-Austria, with abt. 98 % export quota, satisfied regular customers in over 80 countries of this globe and with a leading position in die-tool processing technology and equipment, offering semi- and fully automatic conceptions for both the production and/or reconditioning of ultrahard precision die-tools made from tungsten carbide, natural diamond and synthetic PCD, can justifiedly claim a globally leading market position for the the relevant hard- and software, regularly supplied to the international wire- and cable industry worldwide.

Apart from the production of perfectly manufactured die-tools, the reconditioning of drawing dies on a regular basis is essential to the production of consistently high quality wire. It enables longer uninterrupted wire drawing processes, improved performances , distinctly higher tonnages of drawn wire and in that outstanding quality which then allows a perfect use onwards when making cables, strands, ropes and other wire products, achieving highest economy possible.

EDER supplies single, individual machines to upgrade already existing lines, complete die-tool reconditioning workshops and efficient die production lines including of any kind of required Software/Know How/Technical Assistance, all in state-of-the-art technology and with a high degree of automation even in Standard units. As in the special field of die-tool processing often no longer sufficient human skills exist, "artificial intelligence" built into all EDER equipment now, assists to compensate this factor quite a lot and to make most operation a much easier to do job. Machines, workshops and lines, today make about 80% of our production.
